LOCAL people can join this week’s Frome’s Partner and Communities Together (PACT) meeting online and have their say on policing in the area.
Following a successful trial at Frome’s last PACT meeting, in April, residents can now ‘attend’ an online meeting with representatives from Avon and Somerset Police and Mendip District Council.
July’s PACT meeting in Frome takes place on Wednesday 13th July at 8pm at Frome Medical Practice. A local PC plus a beat PCSO will be in attendance for anyone wanting to speak to someone at the meeting.
For those people who cannot attend the meeting, Sgt Rachel Clark and Judi Thompson, Mendip Council’s Community Safety Officer, will be available to chat online.
Judi Thompson said, “PACT meetings provide local people with a great opportunity to meet with the police, council officers and other partners to discuss any issues or concerns they have within their local area and all partners will then work together to seek solutions.
“However, we understand that it’s not always possible for people to attend these meetings in person, so by hosting an online meeting we hope we can provide a more convenient way for people to ask questions or raise any concerns they have from the comfort of their armchairs!
“We had a few questions submitted online at April’s meeting on subjects including speeding and Neighbourhood Watch schemes and hope to have even more this time.”
Sgt Rachel Clark, from Avon and Somerset Police said, “This is our second online PACT meeting. We are really hoping that people will join in the conversation and take the opportunity to ask questions, raise any issues or concerns and help shape and influence policing and problem-solving in their area.
“We are really aiming to try and reach a new audience with this online format. We understand it is difficult to get out to public meetings, and they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. But hopefully by using an online format, people will engage with us from the comfort of their own homes.
“We are rolling these online meetings out across Somerset and we hope they give people another channel of direct communication with their local Beat Teams and our partner agencies.”
