FROME Hearts took full control in a convincing win over Calne.
Hearts started strong from the 1st whistle as Molly (WD) and Freya (GD) turned over many passes, which allowed the team to provide the shooters Kelly (GS) and Ness (GA) many opportunities to score. Hearts took a tremendous lead 14-1 after the 1st quarter.
Hearts kept the momentum up despite a few wasteful passes to increase their lead further. Calne slowly gathered the ball to produce passes of play into their shooters, but the defence of Jess (GK) and Freya (GD) restricted them to just 4 goals, as Hearts marched on to a 27-5 lead at half time.
Hearts brought on Emily K at GD for Jess, to allow other players game time on court. Hearts gathered their thoughts to continue scoring regularly, as Emma (C) and Kiah (WA) slowly brought the ball up court from defence to attack, whilst keeping Calne at bay. This allowed Hearts to lead 40-10 going into the last quarter.
Hearts then brought Maddie on for Kiah at WA, in which she continued to support the team providing great passes into the shooters; whilst at the other end Freya (GK) and Emily (GD) kept Calne shooters out, which allowed Hearts to convincing win 49-16.
This was a major confidence boost for Hearts as they return to action in two weeks to face a tough Melksham team.
