A WOMAN from Frome is desperately trying to raise money to secure her garden so she can adopt a dog from Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
Xanthe Anderson was looking to adopt a dog for a while when she came across Tom on the Bath Cats and Dogs Home website. Tom is five years old and has been at the home for four years. Xanthe would like to adopt Tom, but her garden needs to made secure first.
Xanthe explains, “Tom has fear aggression towards people and other animals and because of this he needs a fully enclosed garden which I don’t have. Tom requires 6ft panels so he cannot see the people around outside.
“Tom also needs a quiet life and someone to care for him. Luckily, I have quite a sedate life. I have chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) which limits my daily activities and social interaction. I’m also home most of the time as I’m only able to work 10 hours a week and need a quiet, calm environment. I can provide him with the loving home he needs.
“He has been adopted twice but sent back both times as they didn’t have the right home environment for him. It’s not fair to him and if I’m able to home him, that frees up a spot for another dog to be taken in at RSPCA.
“Altogether for posts, panels, a gate and concrete, and the work needed to put it all up, it will cost £1,000. As someone with limited income due to my health, I cannot afford to pay this alone.
“I’m asking anyone and everyone to help me give Tom a home, one he deserves where he will be loved and cared for in a way he can handle. As little as £1 a person would make all the difference.
“Tom is perfect for me and I for him, so please help me give Tom a home.”
