Residents are invited to share their thoughts on possible improvements to Brunel Green.
There will be a series of drop-in events hosted by Frome Town Council over the summer at the space off Brunel Way in Stonebridge, where residents can share their ideas and take part in various activities.
The first event takes place on Saturday 11th July where the council’s monthly ‘meet the councillors’ session will be at Brunel Green from 10am to 12pm, alongside council staff ready to chat about possibilities for the space, the connecting path and surrounding green spaces.
On Wednesday 29th July from 11am to 1.30pm, families are invited to ‘Come Dine with Bee’, exploring the wildlife that lives at Brunel Green. Bring a picnic lunch and look for pollinators, trees and insects using the iNaturalist app to record the creatures that make the area their home.
Every Tuesday in August from 1pm to 3pm, Super Roots and Caravan Arts are hosting free family playdays at Brunel Green, bringing outdoor adventure and creative play to the site. There will be hammocks, slacklines, crafts, games and other activities, providing free school holiday fun and encouraging visitors to make use of Brunel Green in a new way.
On Tuesday 4th August from 8.30pm to 10pm, Brunel Green will host a bat count, with the support of Somerset Bat Group, one of many locations participating in the annual bat count event. No experience is required as training and equipment are provided – booking essential via the link below.
The programme concludes with Brunch on Brunel Green on Sunday 13th September from 11am to 1pm. Residents can enjoy coffee and pastries, hear from the Frome Town Council team about the information gathered during the summer events and discuss next steps.
Mayor of Frome Cllr Mark Dorrington, said, “We know how important spaces like these are for the community and the value we can add to them as a town council with infrastructure such as seating, shade and other equipment. There are some great activities planned at Brunel Green over the summer – come down and share your thoughts about what you’d like to see.”
All the summer activities at Brunel Green are free and most are drop-in. Book free tickets for the bat count at https://tinyurl.com/bat-count-august
