With 22 Publicly Available Defibrillators (PAD) installed across the town and our local villages, the ‘Friends’ are seeking three or four additional guardians to check the cabinets – once a fortnight – and report their operational status into the 999 emergency service.
Volunteers will need a modern mobile telephone capable of reading the tag app – at the cabinet.
The check takes less than two minutes at each cabinet. A once a fortnight commitment is essential.
Team members work together and cover each other when holidays are due, or if someone is unwell.
The Frome Defibrillator Scheme, is reputed to be the first in the country where a complete ‘network’ of PAD units have been installed across the community, and are available 24/7 to assist in cardiac trauma situations.
The ‘Friends’ Defibrillator Team also provide annual public CPR/Defibrillator awareness sessions, and have introduced specially structured educational lessons for students at the Town’s Oakfield and Selwood Academy.
