Local outdoor adventure company, Aveling Adventure, organised Frome’s first Adventure Fest on Saturday 21st of May in Victoria park.
Despite the atrocious weather, hundreds of people braved the wind and the rain to try their hands at climbing, pioneering, archery, martial arts and forest schools.
Lots of people would have said the residents of Frome were mad to venture out in such bad weather, however, hundreds attended the Adventure fest, to try new activities and to support local charities.
Aveling Adventure provided activities such as rock climbing, archery, pioneering, circus skills and giant games. Whilst local organisation Woodland Wonders supplied amazing forest schools for all the families and Matt Fiddes martial arts had demonstrations and activities for children aged 3 and above. Elise from Fairytale faces had a continual queue of eager young faces to paint and decorate!
Jenna Hynd, owner of Aveling Adventure said, “Thank you so much to everyone who made it possible. We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support.”
Catherine Winterburn joint owner of the company said, “We will definitely be doing it again next year. We have received nothing but positive comments from everyone that attended.”
Money was raised for local organisation F.R.O.G.S and School in a Bag a fantastic charity based in Somerset. School in a Bag delivers rucksacks filled with stationery, learning resources and eating utensils to poor, orphaned and children affected by disaster around the world. A raffle was also run with an incredible main prize donated by Girl Guides, for a stay at Waddow hall in Lancashire with adventure activities. Other prizes were donated by Go Outdoors, The River House, The Cornerhouse, The Roti Shack, Greggs, The Lounges, at Bristol and Annie’s Bark Park.
