Residents are invited to share their ideas to revitalise the Market Yard.
Frome Town Council wants to transform Market Yard, creating an attractive gateway to the independent businesses in the town centre and a welcoming space in its own right.
The council is welcoming all ideas, from ambitious new projects to small improvements that could make a difference.
Some residents have already shared suggestions, ranging from more planting and litter-picking to a new riverside amphitheatre and a shipping container food court.
Events and activities for the Market Yard and surrounding cultural venues can also be proposed.
One person shared, “I’d love to see a new, almost river-level boardwalk created along the bank for a stretch of the river. That would allow people to connect with the river in a way they aren’t able to at all. I can imagine in the summer people sitting on the edge, dangling their feet into the cool water.”
Cllr Nick Dove said, “We are right at the beginning of this exciting work to revitalise the Market Yard and help our town centre thrive. The Market Yard is a space with so much potential for improvement, and getting it right will benefit the entire town centre. As a key arrival point, it’s often people’s first impression of Frome. Your ideas will drive this project forward as we work towards an ambitious, co-designed vision that benefits Frome residents, businesses and venues.”
