Frome Inner Wheel held their annual Farmers Harvest Festival & Auction at Standerwick Conference Centre on Thursday 3rd October, where members made a beautiful display of the produce donated by the members and friends and the service was attended by approximately 100 people.
Gill Barnes, club correspondent reports, “After the president, Sue Ruddick, had welcomed many farmers, friends and members, the service was conducted by Father Clive Fairclough and poems were read by Hilary Daniel and Jonathan Cheale. President Sue delivered a reading. The hymns were accompanied by Rotarian Kim Hyde.
“After the service, Sue introduced Lauren Noble, senior community fund-raiser for the RUH Forever Friends Appeal for the new cancer centre, who gave a very interesting talk on the service that they are trying to establish for cancer patients at the RUH.
“We then had a break whilst people enjoyed a delicious supper and after that, Rotarian Dennis Barnard conducted the auction of goods donated. A wonderful total of £800 was raised, thanks to Dennis’s wonderful and persuasive manner, but we would also like to thank everyone who attended the event, without your very generous help we could not have achieved the amount we did, so a very BIG thank you.”
