Frome Community Lottery has announced its latest round of grants to help improve local facilities in the Frome area.
The group which runs the lottery has around £5,500 to give in grants this autumn, which will bring the total given to local good causes to over £60,000.
The Frome Community Lottery was launched in October 2000 to raise money to fund capital projects that involve improving existing or developing new community facilities in the Frome area. For just £1 the lottery offers four chances a week to win a prize of up to £10,000.
Last year’s beneficiaries included Frome Museum, Positive Action on Cancer, Frome FM, Little Gift Theatre Company, Frome Memorial Theatre, Harry’s Hydro, Merlin Theatre and Foreground Projects. The lottery has given funding to 49 different local groups, organisations and projects. These have included groups involved in the arts, sport, health, social care, music, the environment and advisory services.
Michael Rhodes, chair of Frome Community Trust said, “This has been made possible by those who support us by playing the Frome Community Lottery. They have helped to make a substantial difference to life in Frome and the local villages. Many of them have also enjoyed winning cash prizes. We are now looking for some good local projects to support in 2009. We like to support a range of projects and the application process is quite straightforward.”
Organisations and projects that would like to apply for funding are asked to send an email to fromelottery@twynyho.co.uk giving a contact name and postal address so that the application form can be mailed out. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday 19th October.
There have been over 13,427 cash prize winners. Many players have won on a number of different occasions. There are typically over 100 new winners every month. At least 51 players have won £200 and been only one number short of winning the jackpot of £10,000.
