Tickets are selling fast for the Frome Amateur Operatic Society’s pantomime this year, which is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Director Andrew Carpenter told the Frome Times that they are expecting to sell out earlier than usual. He said, “The tickets are going really well. If previous years are anything to go by, it looks like we might sell out by Christmas as we have already sold 2,250 tickets. My advice to anybody wanting to come along would be to get theirs fast!”
The annual Christmas offering from FAOS differs slightly this year insomuch as the traditional ‘pantomime’ characters of dame, prince, leading lady, fairy, villain, knock-abouts and ‘fool’ will be joined by seven dwarfs in the wonderful story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These characters were made famous by that wonderful Walt Disney cartoon film, his first full length feature, which was restored this year for its diamond anniversary.
Youngsters playing the seven dwarfs all come from Frome and district and were chosen in hard fought auditions in September. They are aged seven and upwards. Andrew Carpenter says, “We’re sure audiences of all ages will enjoy their performance and warm to the characters they depict.”
The boys playing the seven dwarfs are: Tom McAllum as Dozy, Oliver Child as Brainy, Jake Kneller as Grumbly, Oliver Waream as Sniffle, Christian Wye as Blushful, Finlay Collinson as Smiley and Jacob Howell as Snoozy.
The pantomime offers the usual mix of traditional family humour and popular music with songs from Queen, Ronan Keating, Les Miserables, Dirty Dancing, Britney Spears and 50 cent to name but a few. And you won’t want to miss the picnic scene involving Dame Edna Bucket and Chuckles the Jester, when they have an absolutely smashing time!
“Tickets are already on sale and going well, with both the Saturday performances already nearly full, so if you don’t want to be disappointed please do book early by contacting the box office on 01373 462795. Tickets are priced at £12.50 – £9.50.”
