Frome Rugby Football Club is benefitting from funding which means that they can now play and train day or night.
Thanks to the Rugby Football Union’s Capital Investment Programme, the club has received a £23,420 grant as well as a Rugby Football Foundation (RFF) grant of £6,000 to purchase full pitch training lights at Gypsy Lane.
These further improvements in facilities will not only benefit its four male teams but also its ladies XV and their thriving junior and mini section.
The support of the RFU has come as a result of a lot of hard work by the Frome RFC committee, members and sponsors, particularly Dairy Crest. The club is committed to the community in which it has flourished for more than 125 years and promotes the development of rugby in schools throughout the town and surrounding areas.
This year, in addition to the RFU Seal of Approval for its mini and junior section, Frome was the first club in Somerset and one of the first in England to be awarded the Whole Club Seal of Approval. This accolade has involved a lot of hard work by several dedicated club members and underlines the good management that characterises this friendly club.
Always looking for new players and social members, Frome RFC is delighted that, through the generous support of the RFU, it is able to continue to improve and develop facilities for the benefit of the whole community.
The RFF is a charitable Trust established by the RFU. The purpose of the RFF is to promote and develop community amateur rugby in England.
Last year the RFF celebrated its fifth year as a major funding source for clubs in England by passing the £10million landmark in 2008. The foundation also administers a capital fund for the financing of capital projects aimed at improving facilities which lead to the recruitment and retention of rugby players.
