A hero’s return will await Jenson Button in Frome, when he returns to his home town on Tuesday 4th May.
The announcement of Jenson’s visit came last week from a delighted Frome Town Council. The title of Honorary Citizen of Frome will be bestowed on the Formula One Motor Racing World Champion Jenson Button MBE by mayor of Frome, councillor Damon Hooton.
Councillor Hooton said, “Frome is rightly proud of its most famous son. A local boy is on the top of the world! It’s not often our town or any town can say that and so it is only right that we present him with our highest award – Honorary Citizen of Frome.
The soon to be built bridge in the Market Yard is due to be named after him in recognition of the F1 driver’s achievements.
Councillor Hooten said, “The new bridge over the river in the Market Yard will be called the Jenson Button Bridge and a plaque commemorating this will be presented to Jenson too.
“We are in the process of finalising the time of the visit on 4th May and we shall provide further details as soon as possible.”
