With the General Election now just a few weeks around the corner, FromeFM is pleased to announce that it will be hosting an election Question Time programme within which Frome people can ask questions of the election candidates.
All of the election candidates have been invited to take part in the programme, which will be recorded at the end of March.
“I hope that all of the Parliamentary candidates will agree to take part in the programme,” said Phil Moakes, FromeFM director and chairman of the election Question Time programme. “We want to provide an opportunity for Frome people to ask questions of the candidates so that they can make more informed choices on polling day.
“We all know that General Elections in Frome are well contested and turn out is usually quite high, so it will be really interesting to hear each of the candidates talking about their party policies and what they think they can bring to the role of MP.”
Frome people can email their questions in to FromeFM (office@fromefm.co.uk) or send them by letter (FromeFM, Question Time Special, The Old Fire Station, Christchurch Street West, Frome, Somerset BA11 1EH).
FromeFM is looking for questions that will enable the candidates to talk about their party’s policies and how they compare and contrast with the alternatives. The people whose questions are selected will be invited to put their question to the panel in person or by telephone.
“We’re not looking so much for the topical questions, ”said FromeFM’s Phil Moakes, ”but the ones that help the listener to understand the different points of view that each candidate holds. We want to tease out more about the candidates themselves, since the General Election is all about electing a local MP as much as a national government.”
