150 jobs have been lost in Frome after BDR Logistics, a haulage company, went into administration last week with over £1million being owed by the company.
The company, which was based on the Marston Trading Estate, ceased trading on Saturday 17th April and administrators SFP Insolvency were appointed on Tuesday 20th April.
A recorded message on the company’s telephone states, “BDR has ceased trading and steps are being taken to put the company into liquidation.
“An administrator has been appointed and will be writing to you shortly.”
Lloyd Smith, a senior administrator at SFP Insolvency told the Frome Times that the company owed in excess of £1m when they took it over.
He said that the company fell into administration “as a result of the company not being able to pay its debts as they fell due.”
He added, “As administrators we are currently investigating the affairs of the company and how best to deal with the issues for all stakeholders concerned.”
Asked if any of the jobs would be reinstated in the future he said, “Prior to our appointment the company ceased to trade on Saturday 17th April. The company made all employees redundant prior to our administration. We are currently reviewing the best course of action for the benefit of all stakeholders concerned.
“As administrators of the company our responsibility is to achieve the best realisations for creditors.
“BDR Logistics owed in excess of £1million. We are currently establishing the full extent of the company’s debt.”
