The Lions Club of Frome is continuing its spending spree.
The latest group to benefit from a donation is Macmillan nurses, who received a cheque for £5,000 at a presentation at Orchardleigh House. The presentation was made by Lion president Clive Smith to Claire Allen, the Somerset fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support. Also in attendance was Nikki Burbridge, events organiser at Orchardleigh House, who stood in for Chris Vincent.
It was back in January when the Lions club staged its annual Gentlemen’s Sporting Dinner at Orchardleigh House, by kind permission of owner Chris Vincent, when guests enjoyed hearing David Flatman, England and Bath rugby prop, give an insight into the world of rugby.
An auction, conducted by Rotarian David Millard raised £2,300 and this, together with a raffle, helped swell the profits to nearly £5,000.
The Lions club wishes to thank David Flatman, David Millard, all the sponsors who generously donated the auction lots and raffle prizes and the guests who helped make the evening so successful.
