Eight Edor (Rode) Explorer Scouts have been chosen to represent Somerset along with 46 other Scouts at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden next year.
Colette, Chris, Daniel, Lorna, Andrew, Lauren, Natasha and Carly went through two gruelling selection weekends and were chosen from 140 applicants.
The Scouts will now embark on a programme of training and fundraising for the Jamboree to prepare for and finance their trip.
The Rode group need to raise a total of £16,000 to fund the trip. There will be a number of fundraising events beginning with a World Cup Football evening on the 12th June at 6.45pm – late at Rode Village Hall where England will play their first game against USA.
There will be a bar serving soft drinks, beer, lager and wine, food available will be burgers, hot dogs and more. Children can have their faces painted and all money raised will go towards the Scouts Jamboree fund, tickets cost adults £3 each, children £1.50 and a family £8.
