A RISING Frome Amateur Operatic Society star has fended off tough competition to secure a place in an upcoming production of ‘Fame’ at the Bristol Hippodrome, to be staged by Bristol company The Big Act.
16-year-old Lottie Ball, who attends Frome Community College, will be playing dance teacher Ms. Greta Bell in the performance which will take place on Monday 4th July at 7.30pm.
The show will be different to what Lottie is used to, as she has only 48 hours to learn the production with the rest of the cast. Lottie, who has been involved with Frome Amateur Operatic Society since she was 13 and other dance and acting groups, fended off over 1,000 other hopeful youngsters to secure her place in the production.
She said, “I queued for two hours just to audition for this production. During the audition I was nervous, but there was a relaxed atmosphere which made it feel very natural.
“I am very excited to be a part of this and the role of Ms. Greta Bell is suited to my dancing background.”
Lottie is currently studying GCSE drama and plans to take theatre studies as one of her A-level subjects. She has appeared in a variety of FAOS productions, including dancing and singing parts. At this year’s FAOS star awards, she was presented with the ‘Award of Excellence’.
“The production of ‘Fame’ is a little different than normal, as we only have 48 hours to rehearse with the cast,” said Lottie, “but it will be a great experience.”
