A FROME woman has taken part in a night walk to raise money for a charity close to her heart.
Jemma Boustead completed the 4.5 mile Bath night walk last week to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Care as thanks for the support she received.
Jemma was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2010 and was helped by Macmillan nurse Cherry Miller. Jemma said, “She has been a huge support to me and my immediate family. I could not have got through the last year without her.”
Jemma completed the walk with a team of friends known as Jemma’s Jems, which consisted of mum Sheila, Lorraine Humphrey, Lynn Gooding, Lydia Lewis, Leanne Amery, Ellie Osbourne and Carla Watts. Together the team raised over £1,145.
Jemma has received chemotherapy and radiotherapy to battle cancer.
She is currently receiving treatment at home which will finish by Christmas. Jemma said, “It’s been a very difficult year as it is a long old road, but I would not have got through it without the support of my friends and family namely my mum and dad, Sheila and James Boustead, and my boyfriend Dan Foster.”
