SCHOOLS across Frome were forced to close last week as teachers went on strike as part of the industrial action organised by two teachers’ unions across England and Wales.
Members of the National Union of Teachers and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers took the industrial action in protest at changes to their pensions.
Berkley First School, Selwood Middle School, Christchurch First School and Vallis First School shut their doors on Thursday the 30th of June as teaching staff went on strike. Trinity First School, Critchill School and St Louis Primary School were partially closed.
The vast majority of Frome Community College students were not expected to attend, but the college was open for students where specific arrangements had been made.
The strike disrupted thousands of schools across the country and approximately 2,000 pupils in Frome.
