Issue 337 – Jenson Button helps save PAC children’s service

The Jenson Button Foundation has responded to recent threatened cuts to the children’s service at Positive Action on Cancer, with a donation of £10,000 over the next two years.

In July the charity reported that the children’s counselling service was under threat due to a shortage of funding. PAC was concerned that if additional funding could not be sourced, cuts to the vital service may have to be implemented by October. PAC is now pleased to announce that they have received a pledge of funding from Jenson Button’s Charitable Foundation that will help run the programme for the next two years.
Mary Taylor, director at PAC said, “We are delighted that Jenson has felt able to support Positive Action on Cancer. The money will make a significant difference to the services that we can offer to children who have been affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.”
PAC run the children’s service from their Frome office and from local schools, it is open to anyone living in BANES, Somerset and West Wiltshire. Cancer can have a profound impact on the lives of children and PAC offer a safe, supportive environment in which children can explore and express their feelings.
PAC is currently the only organisation to offer a free counselling service to both adults and children affected or bereaved by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in BANES, Somerset and West Wilts.
