Frome’s own Formula 1 world champion, Jenson Button, came second in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year competition last weekend.
Despite being the bookies’ favourite to win the competition, Jenson was pipped at the post by Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs.
Thousands voted for Jenson in the public vote, after a triumphant year which saw him crowned as the Formula One world champion with the Brawn GP team.
World heptathlon champion, Jessica Ennis, secured the third spot. This was the fourth year running that the bookies’ favourites have been beaten out of first place in the competition.
