A LOCAL campaign to celebrate and encourage reading launched this month with a ‘My Favourite Place to Read’ photo prize draw.
“The message behind ‘Frome Reads’ is pretty simple,” says co-ordinator Kate Bielby.
“We’re encouraging people to read because it’s enjoyable and rewarding. It doesn’t really matter what you’re reading as long as it grabs your interest. That could mean a novel, but equally comic books, the newspaper or a magazine.
“We know people who read are more likely to get on at school and get into work, but they’re also likely to be healthier, less stressed and live longer. Reading is good for us as individuals and it’s good for our community.”
Frome Reads is supported by local schools and sports clubs, Frome Library, Frome FM, Hunting Raven Books, Fair Frome, local employers, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Frome Community Education, Frome Medical Practice and Frome Town Council.
