Frome Window Wanderland – A Walking Trail to Light up our Winter will be held this year between 1st and 3rd March, 5.30-9.00pm
Organisers say, “Come on a magical evening walk and enjoy colourful displays in the windows and gardens of Frome in the second year of the event. Over 200 venues have already signed up to take part, and all kinds of delights are being created to brighten the winter night.
“Window Wanderland, the inspirational cultural event that has been transforming UK streets in mid-winter since 2015 is already a regular fixture in many towns and cities and it is still growing. Lucy Reeves Khan, its founder, is thrilled that so many communities are creating their own events.
“As a not-for-profit organisation, Window Wanderland is passionate about social change and recognises that although we live closer than ever, we are becoming more isolated, with over 7.5 million people now living alone in the UK.
“A Wanderland is embraced by those who see it, young and old. This is an inclusive grassroots event where everyone is encouraged to have a go at lighting up their neighbourhood. From single candles burning in memory of a loved one, to interactive multimedia displays that invite participation from the passing audience, from humorous to artistic, the universal imagination of participants creates unique and colourful outdoor festivals for all to enjoy. What is in the windows is up to you: Anything goes!”
Local Frome organiser, Lisa Glass says, “This year’s event is going to be great, as well as beating last year’s number of sign-ups, we have been working with six schools to create their window displays, as well as running community workshops in half-term and a workshop with residents at Gracewell Frome.
“Free trail maps of Frome Window Wanderland are available to pick up from various venues around town, including Black Swan Arts, Frome Library and the Town Hall. You can also go to windowwanderland.com/event/ frome-2019 to see a map of the area, and download a listing of participants. Black Swan Arts Café will be open each evening of the event, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks to eat in or take away. So, get your friends, wrap up warm, and join us for Frome’s magical Wanderland.”
