THE UK’s original Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) is hitting the runway for its third year from Monday 25th September to Sunday 8th October and Frome is part of it!
With activities planned across the UK and internationally, the event makes a grand return with even more workshops, markets, debates, film screenings and more, to harness the power of all of us to fuel change in the fashion industry. And here in Frome there is a packed programme of events to inspire you to make your own wardrobe sustainable, from practical guidance in mending and rejuvenating your loved clothing items to refreshing your wardrobe with preloved goodies.
There is a ‘stitch it, don’t ditch it’ street event as well as shop window displays throughout the town, plus a clothes swap, a mending workshop, a dyeing session, a museum event, a film screening and much more.
The full programme of events is available at the library and many locations around the town.
The Frome Hub events are part of the Green and Healthy Future Frome programme on climate and health and are funded by the Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.
Celebrating everything preloved, second-hand, handed-down, reworked and reworn – the theme for this year is ‘The ReWear Revolution’, and invites all those with a passion for fashion (and people and planet) to get involved. Nationally, SFW will include over 75 unique grassroots activities as part of its community programme, each tailor-made to support the ReWear Revolution.
SFW organisers say, “With more and more of us becoming increasingly aware of what we wear, where it comes from and its social and environmental impact – there’s no surprise that Sustainable Fashion Week continues to grow. This year will see expansion with Frome joining the two-day Hubs located in Plymouth, Manchester, Bradford, London, Cardiff, Brighton as well as its Bristol headquarters. Even more, SFW has gone international for 2023 with Hubs in the USA, India and Papua New Guinea. “
