Keyford residents marked the beginning of the summer holidays recently with a street party featuring children’s activities, family games, a treasure hunt and stalls.
For the second year running, the Keyford Area Neighbourhood Group organised the event, with the road outside The Crown pub decorated with bunting.
The fete was opened by the Town Crier and more than 200 people enjoyed tea and homemade cake with family, friends and neighbours while listening to live music from local band Pea Soup.
Around £500 was raised for local charities Fair Frome and Keyford Hedgehog Rescue, as well as helping to cover the costs of the day.
Lead organiser Lyndsey Mayhew said, “Big thanks to all the volunteers who donated or lent things, baked, grew plants, made signs, put up tents and bunting, ran stalls and helped clear up. We hope even more families will choose to get involved with this gentle and heartwarming event next year.”
