BOOKING is now open for this year’s Frome Kindness Festival that runs from Saturday 16th to Friday 22nd March, organised by The Good Heart, Frome’s community centre for kindness.
The full programme and ticketing link can be found on The Good Heart’s website www.thegoodheart.uk
“This year’s festival is more fun, exciting and varied than ever before, so we hope there’ll be something of interest for everyone in the town,” said Festival director Alison Murdoch.
“With the cost-of-living crisis in mind, it’s also very affordable, with plenty of activities for children and families alongside thought-provoking evenings such as our Annual Kindness Lecture. 22 out of the 38 events in the main programme are completely free of charge, due to the kindness of the event leaders and our wonderful volunteers in the Kindness Crew.
“Everything else is offered on a donation-only basis, which means you can book a place for as little as £1 – although we’re hoping that people who can afford it will donate a good bit more than that so that we’ll be able to host another festival in 2025.”
The overall theme of the third Frome Kindness Festival is ‘Kindness Builds Bridges’ and The Good Heart team hopes that it will help us all reflect and reach out at a time of increasing conflict and difficulty in the world.
Alongside the main events, there will be festival projects such as a Stories of Kindness collaboration with Frome Writers’ Collective, a new Kindness Trail created in partnership with the Frome Museum, a week of Kindness Assemblies in Frome schools and initiatives with the Food Bank and Micro Providers network.
In addition, the festival will be making good use of one of the empty buildings in Frome’s town centre – the former HSBC building next to the Boyle Cross – to run a week long ‘Kind Bank’ pop-up. Kind Bank will invite the public to explore what it might be like to visit a warm-hearted bank that deals with kindness rather than cash, provide a range of free family-friendly crafts and activities and act as a hub and booking office for the festival. “Expect the unexpected” say the organisers.
If you’d like to get involved yourself, there’s still time to come along to one of the festival’s Sunday afternoon Maker get-togethers or to join the friendly volunteer team.
