A FLOWER festival will be held at Leigh on Mendip’s Church of St Giles this August bank holiday weekend.
The festival, themed ‘Rhymes and Reasons’, will run from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th, and Monday 29th August. Flower arrangements will portray nursery rhymes and explore the history behind their innocent sounding words.
In the nearby Memorial Hall an extensive historical display will focus on the history of the buildings of the village and the families who used them. Home-made refreshments will be available.
The church will host its tenth concert, ‘Music for a Summer’s Evening’, presented by Nicola Loten (flute) and Thomas Breeze (organ), on Saturday 27th August at 7.30pm. They will be joined this year by harpist Angharad Young. Tickets for the concert, including canapes, cost £7.50 from Caroline on 01373 812889.
Proceeds will support the restoration and future of the church.
