The rising cost of living and tough economic climate mean many families are having to tighten their belts.
Recent NCT research showed that 50% of parents had bought second hand baby or toddler items in the last six months, and the majority were more likely to buy things such as baby or toddler clothes, toys, prams and high chairs second hand rather than new.
In addition to the financial saving, re-using clothing and equipment reduces your carbon footprint and ensures good quality items don’t languish in the loft.
Well-established and trusted by over 200,000 parents who visit them every year, NCT Nearly New Sales represent the best sales of excellent quality used baby and children’s items and provide a one-stop-shop for almost any baby or toddler kit you can imagine!
The next Frome and District NCT Nearly New Sale is on Saturday 21st March at the Cheese and Grain, from 10.00am to 12.00pm – pregnant ladies and NCT members can start browsing from 9.45am. There’s still time to register as a seller, too – just visit fromenctnns mar2015.eventbrite.co.uk and buy a seller ticket before Saturday 14th March.
You don’t have to sell your items in person – NCT use a coding system and the sale is run by branch volunteers, so you can shop and drink coffee while your unwanted items make some extra cash!
Items must be in excellent condition, and sellers keep 70% of the proceeds while the rest is used to fund NCT’s work. The commission raised by NCT is used to fund the work of local branches, who provide face-to-face support to parents on their doorsteps and through groups and local events, as well as funding national helplines, breastfeeding counselling, training antenatal and postnatal teachers and many more services.
Emma Moxon, Nearly New Sale coordinator for Frome NCT said, “NCT Nearly New Sales are a simple idea, with so many benefits. Some parents sell items they no longer need, others hunt for bargains, and whether you’re buying, selling or both, you can be sure you’re helping to support other parents locally by funding the charity’s vital work.
The sales are open to everyone, not just NCT members, so we hope to see you there!”
