A new library has opened at Berkley First School, providing children with a safe space to retreat and enjoy a book.
Pupils named the library ‘Reader’s Retreat’ after voting on a name for the space, which was made possible by a £495 grant from the Center Parcs Community Fund.
Headteacher Suzanne Thompson said, “We would like to declare that the Reader’s Retreat is now open. The space is for all pupils to enjoy; it is a tranquil retreat, a safe place to sit and get lost in an adventure or be taken back in time.
“The area is a nurturing space where small groups can also come together to explore a range of books. We discussed which texts we would like to see in the library, and we celebrated the new books during World Book Day.”
