THE Lions Club of Frome has announced that their charity golf day, originally planned to take place at Orchardleigh Golf Club in May but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will now take place on Friday 2nd October at the Mendip Golf Club, Gurney Slade.
The club report, “The chosen charity for the 2020 event is Brain Tumour Research. The charity is dedicated to raising funds for continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours, and have the aim of building a network of experts at dedicated research centres. They are the leading voice calling for greater support and action for research into what scientists are calling the last battleground against cancer.
“The national organisation of Lions Clubs in the UK is partnering with Brain Tumour Search with a mission to raise £1million for the cause over the next five years. For more information please see www.braintumourresearch.org/lions
“The format for the day will be similar to previous years and will consist of the following: • 18-hole Stableford competition played off full handicap • Two-tee start, with tee times between 08:00 and 10:00 • Various fun competitions at different holes on the way round including; Longest drive; Straightest drive; Nearest the pin on two par 3s; Nearest the pin with the second shot; Beat-the-Pro; Two-spot; Team competitions; Teams of 4 players • Team entry fee £180 – to include bacon roll and coffee on arrival and buffet lunch after completion of your round • Charity raffle
