THE Lions Club of Frome is inviting teams to enter their annual Charity Golf Day at The Mendip Golf Club, Gurney Slade, on Thursday 27th June.
The day will raise funds for The Pod Charity, a Frome-based charity set up in 2013 by parent carers and children with additional needs.
“The day is about enjoying golf and the company of your fellow golfers and at the same time raising money for a fantastic cause,” says Lion Mike Geake.
“Prior to the POD Youth Club opening, there was nowhere for children with additional needs to go to make friends and socialise with others. The POD does incredibly valuable work in supporting young people and adults with additional needs, young carers, and their families, enabling children to find friends and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment. For more information, visit their website www.thepodcharity.org.uk.
“The success of the event depends not only on the support on the day but also upon the generosity of our sponsors. We are most grateful to Rogers and Company Ltd, Mogers Drewett LLP, Day Aggregates, The Royce Clinic Ltd, The Richard Oatley Foundation, Forrester Sylvester Mackett solicitors, Dave Lucey Ltd, Morris & Perry Ltd, Collins Educational Trust, Chase de Vere, Pearson May and Mr Philip Symes for their very kind and generous support.
“The format will be like previous years: 18-hole Stableford competition played off full handicap; two-tee start, with tee times between 8am and 10am.
“There will also be various fun competitions at different holes including the longest drive, straightest drive, nearest the pin on two par 3s, nearest the pin with the second shot, beat-the-pro, two-spot, team competitions, charity raffle and silent auction.
“The team entry fee is £220 (for teams of four players), which includes a bacon roll and coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch after completion of your round. Mendip Golf Club members may deduct £20 for each team member. The format limits us to a maximum of around 24 teams, so please book early to avoid disappointment.”
