A local business has received a royal stamp of approval after being granted the King’s Royal Warrant.
Charltons, one of the largest gate manufacturers in the UK, has once again been awarded the prestigious Royal Warrant, which recognises the company’s work in supplying goods or services to a royal household.
The company is one of just over 800 warrant holders in the UK, and the warrant will remain valid for the next four years.
Director Anthony James Charlton said, “It is a huge honour to have been awarded the King’s Warrant. Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Charltons applied for the King’s Royal Warrant. We remain extremely proud to be longstanding Royal Warrant holders, recognising the Royal Warrant as a treasured and respected mark of excellence and quality.”
When applying for the warrant, Charltons had to demonstrate social and environmental responsibilities, providing evidence to support this. The application was then scrutinised by the Royal Household Warrants Committee, which made its recommendation to the Grantor. Supplying goods or services to a royal household does not guarantee that a warrant will be issued.
Charltons is a fifth-generation family business, and Anthony James’ son, Michael, originally applied for the Royal Warrant. It was awarded to Charltons in 2000 after the company had supplied Sandringham Estate for the previous six years.
The company has also supplied other royal estates, including Buckingham Palace.
“Charltons strives for exceptional quality in everything that we do, with quality ingrained in our ethos,” explained Anthony James. “We are thrilled to have been recognised by His Majesty the King by the granting of the Royal Warrant. It is a reflection of the hard work of all the team involved here over the past 121 years, and we are all exceptionally proud of this achievement.”
