Local school, St Louis Catholic Primary School, has been awarded the CAFOD Live Simply Award in recognition of their commitment to putting faith into action.
Over the past 18 months, the school community has organised and led numerous initiatives to demonstrate how they can live simply, sustainably and in solidarity.
Deputy headteacher Rosie Lihou said, “The pupils, school council and Eco Warriors team have spent the last 18 months taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch and encouraging local residents to join in. They’ve developed a relationship with Rossetti House care home, visiting to sing, learn about World War II and share stories.
“They’ve also taken part in CAFOD’s Big Lent Walk, conducted litter picks and raised hundreds of pounds for the Emmaus Water Aid by throwing old coins into a toilet—and much, much more!
“We are so proud of the work that the children have put in and how dedicated they are to living simply, sustainably and in solidarity.”
The CAFOD Live Simply Award celebrates communities that strive to make the world a fairer and more sustainable place by following three core principles: living simply, living sustainably and living in solidarity with people in poverty.
