THE last ever tree on a business development in Frome has been saved, thanks to cleaning and maintenance company, Busy Bees.
Joint owners, Caron Henwood and Amy Welch, decided to have the oak tree protected after hearing that it may be removed so a new unit could be built.
Amy said, “It’s a very large, grand old tree and we didn’t want to see it taken down. So we made several calls and had many visits from the planning authority and were finally given the confirmation that a preservation order had been placed on the tree so nothing can be built within 12 metres of the tree.
“It did take a while, but we’re very pleased with the results. It was worth all the time and effort.”
Busy Bees was also recently named as finalists at the Mendip Business Awards for customer service excellence and also named as a finalist at the Bath Chronicle Business Awards but will have to wait until September for those results.
Amy said, “We had put ourselves forward for the award but we didn’t know we had been named as finalists until we went to the awards.
“It’s fantastic and we’re extremely pleased with the awards. It’s a great boost of confidence for the staff as it’s recognition of all their continuous hard work.”
