A young motocross rider from Frome is hoping to show his skills at the AMCA championships which has a long history as a breeding ground for some of the best motocross talent in the country.
Jordan Broadway has caught the attention of Bridgestone Tyres as he aims for glory in the notoriously competitive MX1 AMCA Championship and is being supported with a season’s supply of Battlecross tyres, which he hopes will give him the edge over his competitors.
The 22-year-old has been blazing a trail in the sport for a number of years and his ever-increasing confidence levels have been topped up further with Bridgestone now on board.
Bridgestone’s business development manager Steve Watts was made aware of Jordan’s ability through customer Parsons Motorcycles in Coombend, Radstock, who have been backing the youngster since he first jumped on a bike as an eight year-old.
Steve said, “We have supplied a range of tyres to Parsons Motocross for some time now, and we have a great relationship with directors John, Eric and their team. We were made aware of Jordan’s talent and it seemed like a perfect time to support him with a supply of our Battlecross products.
“He’s an absolute magician on the track and we hope that his performances will create demand around our motocross range of tyres, which we feel are amongst the very best in the sport.”
Jordan said he was confident of more successes in 2016 after scooping a clutch of junior championships and he goes into the season on a new bike, the Suzuki 450RMZ, on new Bridgestone rubber.
He said, “I am going into the season to win. In a field of around 36 riders it is going to be tough but I’ll aim for the top 10, then the top five and look at the top three from there.
“The major factor is staying injury free. I’ve always felt confident and with the new equipment and set-up I have, there’s no reason why I can’t do really well. I’ve tested the Bridgestone BATTLECROSS X30s and they are unbelievable. I’ve been able to enter corners quicker as the stability they provide is so impressive. As a result, I feel my lap times are better, so I will enter the season with an advantage.”
John Parsons, director of Parsons Motorcycles, used to compete with Jordan’s father and said there are a number of similarities between the two.
“Jordan is a fabulous talent. He’s very aggressive like his dad was and he’s a very focused, calm lad. We think he has all the ingredients to go a long way and we’re delighted to support him.”
