LOCAL woman Jessica Slater, former branch co-ordinator for Frome and District NCT, has been named South West Volunteer of the Year at the annual NCT Stars awards.
The Star Awards are designed to ‘recognise and celebrate the achievement of volunteers and practitioners dedicated to supporting all new parents during their first 1,000 days – from the start of pregnancy to their child’s second birthday’.
Jessica who is a mum of three and has been involved with the charity for five years, said, “I’m so pleased to have been chosen for this award. Everyone in the branch works so hard to provide help and support to new parents and it’s great that our work has been recognised.
“Congratulations to my fellow volunteer Tasmin Head, who was also nominated for an award.
“It’s an important year for NCT as the charity celebrates its 60th birthday. Why not join us for a family picnic in Victoria park on Sunday 31st July, 11am-1pm for a double celebration! As with all the activities, there’s no need to be a member of NCT – just come along to make new friends and find out more about us.”
Jessica is now in the running for the national awards in London on 2 nd November.
