Local musician, Vicki Burke, has launched a crowdfunder for a community-led video and wants townsfolk to join in the fun.
‘Magic Money Tree’ is an uplifting song written by Vicki and produced in Frome together with Will Angelero. Calling in favours from some of the musicians she has worked with in the past, the song features Frome-based talent including Luke Emery, Wilf Waterhouse, Tanya Sherriff, Mike Peake and Nick Waterhouse as well as a wonderful group of singers from many of the local choirs.
In addition to Frome-based musicians and singers, Vicki was lucky enough to have Bristol-based pianist Anders Olinder join the team, along with Here and Now guitarist Andy Burrows and the gorgeous Emily Jane Gardiner on lead vocals. Vicki herself has added her own backing vocals, but stepped back from the saxophone lead when funk legend Pee Wee Ellis agreed to add his talents to the track.
The song, Magic Money Tree, is part of a larger campaign against inequality, commenting on the enormous amount of money hidden away in tax havens by businesses and individuals. To make the message more effective Vicki wants to create a music video with two local film makers Howard Vause and Daniel Dobbie. Vicki said, “This is a song about our community, about bringing more fairness and equality into our way of living and I want people to come and get involved in the video, dancing along to the song, I need lots of people to create a big party atmosphere.”
The production of the song is almost complete, but still needs more funding and the video is going to cost rather a lot more, so a crowdfunding site has been set up with Vicki asking for at least £2,000 to make it happen. https://crowdfunder.co.uk/the-magic-money-tree—a-campaign-music-video
The filming will take place in Rodden Meadow, Frome on either Thursday 12th September from 4-7pm or Sunday 15th September 12-3pm. The date will be decided when the weather forecast is confirmed and Vicki wants people to come colourfully dressed.
