LOCAL resident and general manager at Love to Ride, Sam Robinson, is screening a new Swedish documentary at Westway Cinema on Sunday 21st June.
Love to Ride is a social enterprise, who believe life is better when you feel happier, healthier and connected to the world around you. They use a mixture of technology, behaviour change and targeted communications to help more people experience and share the many benefits that riding a bike brings.
Sam said, “I spotted this new documentary by Swedish filmmaker Fredrik Gertten – Bikes vs Cars – which is all about the bicycle as a tool for positive change.
“Achieving the UK Green Film Festival’s Audience Best Film Award earlier this month, Bikes vs Cars has been premiering in major cities and cultural events around the world.
“With Frome’s unique town council and support for creating a town its people are fiercely proud of, spaces for them to move freely and plans to create a more people-focussed and less car-frenzied town centre, I thought – why aren’t we showing this film in Frome?
“There’s an unusually high number of people in Frome who are some way connected to bikes, through work or interests, volunteering, research, education, training and manufacturing.
“Martina at the Westway Cinema jumped on it and has been fantastic in helping get it set up and promoted locally. Not only are we supporting a great independent venue, this is also a chance to meet some great people who are also supporting this one-off screening and help bring the bike back to Frome.”
