A Frome author is donating all proceeds from her book for families to Focus Frome, a counselling charity that provides mental health support.
Lydia Hardy wrote The Magician of Rook Lane, a book featuring poetic rhymes and illustrations designed to appeal to both children and adults.
Lydia said she created the book to celebrate “all grandfathers past and present who quietly share their magic and everyone who shares their kindness and love with others.”
Through the book’s illustrated pages, a poetic story of adventure and hope unfolds for the reader.
“Life can be tough. I wanted to give children the encouragement to try different things, be creative and explore the outside world, to respect others, and the world we live in,” explained Lydia. “Children’s mental health is so important, so I will be donating all the profit made from the sale of the book to Focus Frome counselling. We all have personal issues that can hold us back in life, and I would like to see affordable, local counselling accessible to all in need.”
The book, which costs £10 per copy, will be on sale at a special Focus Frome Christmas open day on Saturday, 7th December, from 10am to 2pm at St John’s Cottage, Church Steps. It can also be purchased by contacting office@focusbath.com.
