Bronwen Jenkins-Sims and Anita Townsend, who both work in McColls in Badcox, have watched one of their regular customers, Kate Snook, struggle more and more since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2014.
Bronwen and Anita wanted to do something to support Katie and so they ran the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre, a charity where Katie receives regular therapies.
The Therapy Centre offers long term physical, emotional and psychological therapies for people with MS, their families and carers. Based in the heart of Warminster the Therapy Centre covers a wide geographical area to include Frome, Bath, Yeovil, Salisbury, Weymouth and all surrounding towns and villages. The charity is completely self-funded and delivers over 8,500 therapies per year.
Bronwen and Anita organised an MS Awareness Day at the McColl’s shop, which included a fabulous cake sale and raffle. Even Elvis made an appearance!! They have also taken part in bucket collections and have raised an impressive £1,488 for the charity.
Rosie Eliot, the Centre Director said, “The Bath Half Marathon is such a tremendous event and it was lovely to know that these two very special women were supporting one of their customers. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the amazing runners on the day and the effort they put into completing the run and raising so much money for charity.”
