Mendip Ramblers are looking forward to their new autumn programme and particularly to this year’s August Bank Holiday Walking Festival which will be based at Wellow Village Hall.
The festival takes place over three days, 23rd, 24th and 25th August. There are four walks each day, three starting at 10.00am and one shorter walk starting at 1.00pm. The walks are free and everyone is welcome. Tea and cake are available at the end of each walk (for a small donation).
If you would like to come along and enjoy some beautiful countryside then you can find the details on the website www.mendip ramblers.co. uk or ring Les on 07768 556735, Clive on 01749 382064 or Mary on 01373 474530.
Ramblers are also looking forward to their regular Thursday and Sunday walks and short cup of tea walks on the first Monday in the month.
The group has enjoyed some beautiful walks in beautiful weather during the last few months. Outside of the usual weekly walks, they had an early morning walk in April ending at the Hunter’s Lodge in Priddy for breakfast, then on the 21st June a number of very keen (mad?) walkers met at 3.15 am for the Summer Solstice walk at Stonehenge.
In July a pub lunch walk ended at The Hunter’s Lodge and an evening walk was followed by supper at The Cross Keys at Rode. A super day’s walking on The Isle of Wight rounded off the spring/ summer programme.
The working party has been very busy as always, clearing footpaths and installing kissing gates, particularly around Wellow this year, in preparation for the August Bank Holiday Walking Festival.
If you are interested in joining any of the walks, you will be made very welcome. Check the website or give Mendip Ramblers a ring and come along and enjoy some of the beautiful local footpaths.
