SOMERSET Wildlife Trust will be leading a number of guided walks around Frome over the coming months.
Each of the walks will cost £2.50 (£1 child/student), will not be suitable for people in wheelchairs or with limited mobility, and no dogs are allowed.
Sunday 12th July: 2pm to 4pm – Butterflies on Cotley & Scratchbury Hills, led by Mick Ridgard. Meet in layby next to roundabout on A36 near Heytesbury. Map ref ST918429. A walk on these renowned hills for several species of butterflies, including skippers and blues.
Sunday 2nd August: 1.30pm – Wildlife in an unspoilt Somerset valley, led by Tony House. Meet in the car park of The Kings Head, Coleford, BA3 5LU. Map ref ST689 487
Sunday 15th November: 1.30pm. Chantry Lane and Grotto Walk, led by Tony House. Park in Mells Lane opposite Stony Lane. Chantry, BA11 3PD. Map ref ST 719 472
Walk around Chantry Lake with its legendary grotto where the otter family lives, then follow the stream up to higher ground to stop under 300-year-old yew trees, down steps to regain the stream again for dipper/kingfishers and other wildlife. Returning up a hidden otter route / footpath to end our journey.
