Half-term is approaching and the Merlin Theatre has both shows and day workshops for young audiences and performers.
The ever-popular ‘Thriller’ workshop returns on Tuesday 30th October. Participants spend the day learning a Halloween-themed dance routine, put on their zombie make-up and stage a performance for their parents at the end of the day.
Would-be actors can join the ‘Play-in-a-Day’ workshop on Thursday 1st November, creating a fun piece of original theatre to perform to parents at the end of the afternoon.
Both workshops are suitable for 7-12 years, running from 10am – 3pm and cost £15. Please bring a ripped-up t-shirt or costume for ‘Thriller’ and snacks/lunch for both workshops. Make up will be included.

On Monday 29th October, at 2pm, Circus Trick Tease present a new award-winning comedy ‘Children are Stinky’. Set in the 1990s, the show has plenty of in-jokes and a cleverly choreographed nostalgic mash-up which hooks parents in for a rollicking trip down memory lane. Expect dare devil stunts, incredible acrobatics, lighting fast hula hoops, and loads of laughs in an enjoyable show for all ages that encourages the slight of years to be proud of themselves. Dotted Line Theatre and Polyglot Arts use music, songs and puppetry to ring their story of the Amazon jungle to life in ‘Stories on a String’, a new show suitable for age 6 plus on Wednesday 31st October at 2pm. City girl Jacina must leave her Facebook-fuelled life to travel on a quest for her grandma, into the Amazon jungle. Her journey is full of surprises, as she encounters mythical creatures and discovers her family’s roots! But there’s no WiFi in the rain forest, so when her phone stops working, Jacina feels lost and afraid… She must rely on her eyes, her ears and her heart, as the creatures of the jungle reveal to her a new path and a way back home. Not every answer can be found in the technology in the palm of our hand!
