PUPILS at Oakfield Academy have been praised by their school for their involvement in a mini-police project that saw students becoming mentors to teach the importance of the police in the local community.
Since September, five Year 8 students, Toni Brooks, Sophie Thatcher, Eric Downes, Jacob Watkins and Ewan Goode, have been working as mentors with pupils from Critchill School and two PCSOs. The pupils have supported their Critchill peers with community projects, as well as helping teach the importance and role of the police in the local community.
A representative from Oakfield Academy said, “We would like to celebrate the achievements of five of our Year 8 pupils in the mini-police project. The PCSOs commented on how well the pupils represented themselves and Oakfield Academy. They also said that the students were mature, articulate and an enormous support throughout the project.
“The pupils have developed new skills and have been an incredible support to both the police and Critchill. A huge thank you to Mrs Foulger, who has been a great help with the project.”
