LOCAL MP David Warburton says he ‘got it wrong’ by supporting the Government over the controversial Owen Paterson vote.
In an exclusive question and answer discussion with Frome Times, the MP apologised, saying he shouldn’t have voted with the Government which was aiming to stop Owen Paterson from being censored for misusing his position as an MP to benefit two firms he worked for.
David Warburton said he had promised his party whips he would support the Government, but said he realised he made a mistake. He said, “Would I apologise? Yes…I think, it’s the only time in six years of being an MP that I’ve voted a way that I genuinely regret.”
The Owen Paterson dispute was just one of several issues covered in an hour-long question and answer ‘Zoom’ meeting with Frome Times which covered a range of national and local issues raised by Frome Times’ readers.
You can read the first part of the full in-depth discussion covering national issues with the second part on local issues in next week’s paper.
