FROME MP and minister of agriculture David Heath officially opened the Frome Cards for Good Causes shop on Saturday 27th October, where shoppers can buy Christmas cards from more than 25 national and several local charities in Frome.
Cards for Good Causes – which sells charity cards across the UK every year – will be open until Tuesday 18th December at St. Johns Church, Church Steps, Frome.
Manager of the shop Renée Cole said, “We’re delighted that David could spare the time to visit and officially open our Frome shop. Everyone in Frome is so generous and really help us to raise more for our charities. Charity cards are a great way to buy once and give twice – once to the person who receives your card and once to your favourite charity.”
Frome charity Christmas card shop is one of a countywide network of shops. Cards for Good Causes Limited (CFGC) pays the participating charities (or their trading subsidiaries) at least 75p in every pound from their card sales, less the VAT payable on the amount retained by CFGC. The retained amount covers CFGC’s costs of running the temporary charity Christmas card shops. In additional to these costs, the participants have to pay for the production and distribution of their cards.
The shop, which is staffed by over 60 local volunteers, opens between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Saturday. When visiting the shop, look out for the red triangular Santa sign.
The Frome shop has an excellent record and they look forward to seeing their regular customers, volunteers and lots of new faces.
