The third Monday in January or Blue Monday is claimed by some statisticians to be the most depressing day of the year.
On Blues Monday this year, however, for members of Active and In Touch, the blues were blown away thanks to students from Kingswood School, Bath, who visited AIT’s Monday Friendship Lunch Club at Frome’s Assembly Rooms.
The charity says, “Performing numbers in great style ranging from “Les Miserables” to intricate pieces by Beethoven on piano and strings, the young people really wowed and enthused the 80 or so in the audience. Their Grand Finale, performed by the 15 strong mainly strings orchestra, comprised a medley of songs, including one from the repertoire of the English Rock Band, Muse.
“Sincere thanks to Elaine Francis, Kingswood’s teacher of music, for organising this superb occasion, and the group of talented young musicians who brightened up everyone’s day.
“This is the fourth year running that Kingswood School has visited Frome on this particular date and once again, the students certainly banished the Blues! It is clearly one of the highlights of the year for AIT members who beamed with appreciation and joy throughout the delightful and varied performance.”
