Local fundraisers, Tribe, are aiming to hit their £5,000 target for Fair Frome with an outdoor music event at Victoria Park this Saturday, 30th August.
‘Tribe Mini Fest’ will run from 1pm to 6pm and will include performances by Jiggidy, Carl Hills, My Unicorn Dream, Pete Gubbins, Sammi Evans and Paul Kirtley, who founded Tribe in 2019 as a collective of musicians that raises funds for various charities through performances.
Paul Kirtley founded the Fair Frome Tribe specifically in 2021 and has been raising money for the local charity, which runs the town’s food bank, Food @ Five, the community pantry scheme, and a furniture and baby basics bank ever since.
Since it began, the tribe has raised £21,749 for Fair Frome. “This includes £2,199.50 for our 2025 campaign, which I started late in March due to ill health. This year’s target is £5,000 minimum, but we hope to do better,” said Paul.
“I wanted to focus on a local charity, and Fair Frome fitted the bill perfectly – small staff numbers with support from local volunteers, reaching out to hundreds of people in need by putting food on tables. Since 2021, I have done hundreds of sessions on the street, in the market, in pubs, clubs, Victoria Park and the Old Theatre Royal. Sometimes solo, other times accompanied by local musicians.”
Paul can usually be found hosting a weekly live music session every Friday night at the Crown Inn, Keyford. “We also have a session in the Chester House Social Club on Saturday 23rd September,” he added.
