Frome Hearts travelled to a chilly Devizes determined to improve on the score line from their previous meeting with the Trowbridge side.
TNC won the toss to gain the first centre pass and gathered several goals in the quarter. Fortunately Frome quickly turned over the play on several occasions and a strong Frome centre court from Georgina Guy C and Emily Aston WA allowed them to pocket several goals themselves, leaving Frome to finish the 1st quarter only two goals behind the Trowbridge side at 9-7 to TNC2.
Going into the second quarter, Frome continued to fight hard to keep up with TNC’s shooting and to deter the oppositions centre court passes. Izzy Book WD played fantastically in only her second appearance for Hearts to work as a link between the defensive play and centre court, however TNC proved to be a strong side and kept Frome side working hard to prevent the lead being stretched too far.
The half time whistle left Frome facing a 16-10 deficit.
As the third quarter played out, Frome made a change in the defensive end to swap in Mia Quick into WD and with her strong support, the defensive team of Natasha Manners GK and Carly Ritson GD kept the score down. The strong partnership of Andrea McCall GS and Kelly Pleasants GA shooting managed to pocket many more goals than TNC over the course of the quarter and Frome fought back to level the scores 19-19 at the end of the third quarter.
Frome went into the final quarter feeling positive and they worked as a strong team to work the ball from player the player down the court and remain tight on their players for quick interceptions if the ball should stray to the opposition. Their partnerships ensured that they managed to keep level with the fantastic play of their opposition, finishing at the final whistle with 24 goals to both teams.
