A NEW novel by Sunday Times best-selling author and Frome resident, Libby Page, is set to celebrate our town when it launches on Thursday 16th February.
The Vintage Shop of Second Chances takes place in Frome and is centred around a vintage shop that its main character opens on Catherine Hill.
Libby says, “Although the vintage shop in the book is fictional, I took inspiration from real Frome businesses such as The Dandy Lion and Deadly is the Female.”
Libby grew up nearby in Gillingham, North Dorset, and moved to Frome in April 2021, her son being born here two months later. She is the author of four novels; her debut The Lido became an instant bestseller when it published in 2018. She is known for books that celebrate community and friendship.
She says, “I feel very lucky to live in this special town and wanted to highlight Frome’s community spirit in this book. Hopefully local readers will recognise lots of places in the novel, as well as the entrepreneurial spirit of the characters and the way the locals band together to help one another.”
Libby will be celebrating the book’s publication with a launch party in Frome, run in conjunction with Hunting Raven Books, where the book will also be on sale from Thursday 16th February.
Tina Gaisford-Waller, manager of Hunting Raven says, “The Vintage Shop of Second Chances reads like a love letter to Frome. Lots of books are set in fictional versions of places, but Frome is named in the book, and you can feel the cobbles of Catherine Hill underfoot as you turn each page. It bears the hallmarks of all of Libby’s books – emotional, warm-hearted, funny, and acutely observed.”
The Vintage Shop of Second Chances can be bought in Hunting Raven in Cheap Street or online.
